In this blog post we explain why we don't sell puppies and why you should avoid buying puppies from other pet stores. We also include some other alternatives on where to find your fluffy friend, while supporting ethical and humane practices.
At Newfound Pet Center, we’re all about the well-being of animals, which is why we do not sell puppies in our store. Many pet stores that do sell puppies often source them from puppy mills—mass breeding operations where dogs are raised in inhumane conditions, with little regard for their health or well-being. These puppies are often overbred, under-cared for, and kept in overcrowded, unsanitary environments. We strongly oppose these abusive practices.
Instead, we encourage pet parents to adopt from local shelters and rescues like Franklin Animal Shelter and the NH Humane Society. By adopting, you’re giving a dog a second chance at a happy life while standing against the cruelty of puppy mills. When you adopt, you not only save a life, but you also make room for another animal to be rescued.
At Newfound Pet Center, we’re proud to support adoption through our "Sharing the Love" program, which offers a free adoption package as a thank you when you give a dog or cat a fresh start.
We believe in a better way to find your new best friend—one that starts with love, compassion, and support for ethical practices.
